Nitinol
Nitinol is a titanium-nickel alloy presenting shape memory by use of heating and cooling and it can return to programmed shape after warming up. While nitinol can change its geometric shape in time by use only changes in temperature it is exposed it can be helpful in my conceptions. It has also application in robotics for making parts which are used as artificial muscles capable to move robot arms and so on. Nitinol could be used as a spring and after it is warmed up will attract a wheeled or magnetically levitated chassis to inclined to one direction ramps. After this process the chassis will be replaced into the end of this ramp and than another nitinol element would be working on another side of the ramp inclined in opposite angle, so imagine that we would have a system of ramps creating one line - track on which the train would be moving. Nitinol can be warm up to change geometry many times without visible wearing of the material, however frankly saying I don't know how many times the cycles of heating and cooling it can stand. But application of nitinol or other even better materials could make better my solutions presented here on a couple of pictures. First of all, I wouldn't need to use thermal expansion of common metal what as we know would give very small increase of length on propulsion rods, but with application of materials with memory of shape the problem would be less complicated. Instead of magnets - electromagnets I can also use nitinol. Nitinol can create a pressure on upper or lower ramp, by changing its own geometric shape, so the vehicle can be propelled by use of geometric inclination because the entire system will be tending to obtain lowest possible internal energy level. Adding axial vibration generators to the propulsion system and electromagnetic starter we can obtain almost autonomous and energy independent system in which only needed energy is small quantity of electromagnetic energy required for controling and accelerating the train. Once electromagnetic energy is delivered, the system will undertake the work automatically.
